Media Advisory: Beauséjour community to celebrate 40 years

May 23, 2019 – On May 25, Ottawa Community Housing will honour long-term tenants, who have lived in the Beauséjour Community since it opened 40 years ago, during a celebration of this Lowertown neighbourhood’s anniversary.

The celebration is a family event and will also include speeches from OCHC CEO Stéphane Giguère and Chair and Rideau-Vanier Councillor Mathieu Fleury. Other dignitaries, such as Ottawa-Vanier MPP Nathalie Des Rosiers will join the festivities.

11:00 am Set up
11:30 am Ribbon cutting ceremony
11:31-11:36 a.m. Speeches by OCHC CEO Stéphane Giguére and Rideau-Vanier Councillor and OCHC Chair Mathieu Fleury.
11:37-11:42 a.m. Presentation of certificates to be presented to long-term tenants of Beauséjour.
12:00 pm BBQ
1:00 p.m. Zoo Crew
2:00 p.m. Fish tank

Beauséjour Community:

  • 144 homes, a combination of townhomes and apartments, built in 1979
  • There are approximately 426 residents in the Beauséjour community, with children and youth representing 29% of the population
