Tenant volunteers give neighbours, frontline workers something to be thankful for

Residents at Hasenack Place pitched in to help make a happy and physically distant Thanksgiving for those in need.

A group of tenant volunteers made 62 meals – thanks to funds raised through a pizza fundraiser, private donations and turkeys supplied by Ability First Ottawa. Residents of the building were handdelivered meals, a face mask and hand sanitizer. Twenty of the meals went out with staff from Ability First Ottawa to be delivered to people in the community and frontline workers.

Chrissy Nolan was very grateful for all the help from her fellow tenant volunteers in making this dinner work so well. Karen made cupcakes, Annie did the grocery shopping, and Hannah delivered all the meals to the building’s residents. Christina Ranieri from Ability First Ottawa also added a mask and hand sanitizer for each meal.

“All in all, it was a huge success,” Chrissy said.
