File Your Taxes to Keep Your Rent Help

If you receive help paying your rent, your rent amount is based on your income.
To continue receiving your rent subsidy, you must file your taxes every year – even if you had little or no income.
If you do not file your taxes or do not give proof of income, your rent may increase to the full market rent amount.
What You Need to Do
- File your income tax return every year.
- Get your Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Send your Notice of Assessment to OCH with your Household Review Form.
You can send them by:
- By email at documents@och.ca
- By mail at 731 Chapel St, Ottawa, ON K1N 8A1
- In person at your nearest OCH Tenant Service Centre
Deadline to file your taxes: April 30 each year.
You May Get Money Back
When you file your taxes, you may receive benefits such as:
- GST/HST Credit
- Canada Child Benefit
- Ontario Trillium Benefit

Even if you had no income, you may still qualify for these payments.
