Tuesday, October 25, 2022 (OTTAWA, ON) – The following is a statement from Stéphane Giguère, Chief Executive Officer of Ottawa Community Housing Corporation (OCHC), regarding the results from the City of Ottawa’s 2022 municipal election:

Ottawa Community Housing Corporation (OCHC) wishes to congratulate Mayor-elect Mark Sutcliffe, incumbents, and incoming Members of the Council on their election victory. We also thank all candidates who put their names on the ballot during an engaging local election campaign.

We look forward to working directly with the new Council in addressing Ottawa’s affordable housing needs and collaborating on meeting the objectives of the city’s 10-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan. With adequate funding and continued support from all levels of government, we can scale up and build more homes to help meet the needs of our 10-Year Development Plan. Now, more than ever, we must continue collaborating and developing safe, quality, affordable homes in Ottawa.

We also would like to thank outgoing Mayor Jim Watson and all other incumbents, including OCHC’s Chair Mathieu Fleury and the Board of Directors, who did not seek re-election for their past years of leadership and engagement in our communities.
