No matter where you live, a high moisture level in your bathroom makes mold almost impossible to remove, no matter how much you clean.

To do that, follow these steps:

  • After a bath or shower, remove moisture from the shower walls with a squeegee. This is an important tool to fight mold, as it will remove three-quarters of the moisture that helps mold grow.
  • Run your bath fans during your shower or bath for half an hour to eliminate excess moisture.
  • Clean the fan and grille often.

If I see mould, how do I get rid of it?

To remove the current bathroom mold, scrub with detergent and water, then let the surface dry completely. Or use a solution of 10 percent bleach and 90 percent water (a stronger bleach solution will not give better results). Spray or brush on the solution, let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse it off and let dry.

Call 613-731-1182 and select option 2 for maintenance if you notice an issue with your bathroom fan or cracking caulking around your shower or tub. You may also make a repair request through the My Home tenant portal at  www.och-lco.ca/my-home/
