Volunteers Host Annual Resource Fair at Heather Manor

“Working together helps everyone.”
Julie is part of the Tenant Circle at Heather Manor. She and 14 volunteers help residents connect with each other and with community resources. They organize programs like the Resource Fair.
On Feb 18, volunteers set up the fair and answered questions. Residents learned about where to go for help, and other groups shared information about health, safety, and social services.
Tenants met staff from partner groups. They could sign up for programs or ask questions.
“This event lets us share what we know with Heather Manor,” said Yolanda Jones from OCH.
Volunteerism in the community
Besides the fair, volunteers run a fruit-and-vegetable program, a breakfast club, and a clothing donation every month. These programs support everyone and help connect tenants with neighbours.
Volunteers say everyone helps, no matter how big or small their part is.
“I love helping people,” Julie said. “My mom helped others, and it makes me happy too.”
