What do you get when you mix teamwork, effort, and kindness? It’s a great recipe!

On August 19, 80 Tiree volunteers came together to transform the Confederation Court Community House kitchen. They donated $5,000 toward a brand-new IKEA kitchen and spent the day installing it—just in time to celebrate their company’s 25th anniversary.

The upgrades didn’t stop there — contractors made space, set up a smart audio/video system.  Volunteers also refreshed the basketball court and tidied the gardens.

What this means for tenants

The new kitchen and refreshed spaces give staff more room to run programs, share meals, and host activities. Residents will now have even more opportunities to cook, learn, and connect with neighbours.

“It’s all about making a warm place where neighbours can gather, share meals, and make new friends,” said Kristina, Program Manager at the Community House.

Did you know?

  • The Confederation Court Community House opened in 1991
  •  In 2021, it added a satellite food bank at Russell Gardens

“Community Houses are the heart of OCH neighbourhoods,” said OCH Board Chair Theresa Kavanagh. “Partnering with groups like Tiree helps us build and keep the resources that matter to families.”
