Tenant Spotlight: Circle of Hope Brings Women Together in Britannia Woods

What started with a few cups of coffee has grown into something much bigger.
In Britannia Woods, a group of women began meeting to talk, share stories, and support one another. Over time, those small gatherings became Circle of Hope, a resident-led group built on friendship, care, and community.
With support from Britannia Woods Community Services and Ottawa Community Housing, the group continued to grow. Today, up to 40 women meet every week for breakfast and community activities.
For many women, Circle of Hope has become more than a weekly meetup. It is a safe and caring space.
“As a single mom to three wonderful children, life can sometimes feel overwhelming,” says Zahra, a Britannia Woods resident. “Joining this group has truly helped me open up, connect with others, and find a supportive community. It’s made a huge difference in helping me become more social and has given me a space to relax and relieve stress.”
As more residents got involved, the group began to take action. Volunteers helped improve the community. They created a community garden where neighbours can gather and enjoy the outdoors together.
Circle of Hope gives women a place to connect, learn, and support each other. The group is especially welcoming for newcomer women who may be looking for friendship and a sense of belonging.
