Thanks to a community partnership, in January, more than 230 families could access food bank services where they live.
Thanks to $35,000 in funding from United Way East Ontario and PCL Hard Hat Heroes Fund, a maintenance shed at 2312 Russell Rd. was converted into a food bank space. The PCL Hard Hat Heroes Neighbourhood Improvement Grant Program is offered in partnership with PCL Constructors Canada Inc. The grant is intended to give residents direct input and influence in improving Ottawa’s priority Neighbourhoods.
The food bank is operated by the Confederation Court Community House.
The renovation began in October 2022, and the program moved into the new location at the end of November. The Ottawa Food Bank also provided a $6,810 grant to purchase a new fridge, shelves and tables.
