Did you know? LED light bulbs are 90 percent more efficient than old-fashioned incandescent bulbs. They last longer and cost less to use, and they are non-toxic.  That means they don’t contain mercury or other hazardous heavy metals.

That’s why OCH invested more than $1 million to replace older lightbulbs in ceiling lights and vanities from February 2024 to September 2025.

By the numbers

  • 16,722 LED lights installed
  • 92,303 kwh in energy savings – about the same as 55 electric cars driven for a year
  • 673 fridges replaced with more energy efficient Energy Star ones
  • Appliances upgraded in 84 buildings, benefiting 6,413 tenants

How does that affect you?

Even if you don’t pay your own electric bills, reducing energy use helps keep overall costs down.  That allows OCH to invest in other things that help us preserve tenant homes. If you do pay your own bills, the savings are direct; lower energy use means lower costs.
