Sept. 16, OTTAWA, ON – Residents of the OCH neighbourhood Banff-Ledbury will unveil a striking new mural, Joy, celebrating community connections and youth creativity. The colourful artwork offers strong visuals for media, including a public unveiling at 5:30 p.m.
Created by neighbourhood artists, with the support of Community Engaged Muralist Claudia Salguero, the mural shows a child’s face framed by vines and flowers to symbolize community connections and growth. Placed on a building facing Bank Street, it’s designed to catch the eye of everyone crossing the bridge — a colourful new landmark for the community.
“Whatever the picture, we wanted to show hope, family, community and strength,” said Gwendy Herring, Community Engagement Coordinator for the Banff Community House.
The mural received funding from OCH’s Community Capital Fund program, which aims to support tenant-led community projects.
