Ottawa, ON – April 27, 2026 – Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) has been confirmed as the City of Ottawa’s delivery partner for Phase 1 of the Heatherington Road subdivision redevelopment, marking an important milestone that brings 90 new affordable homes on city-owned lands one step closer.

With pre-development work now complete, including environmental, technical, and planning coordination, Phase 1 is now positioned to progress to the next stage of development, moving this closer to the start of construction.

Phase 1 includes two planned residential buildings at 1750 and 1790 Heatherington Road, totalling 90 homes. It represents the first step in the long-term redevelopment plans of the site and will support neighbourhood revitalization in Albion–Heatherington while contributing to Ottawa’s housing supply goals.

As the delivery partner, OCH will lead Phase 1 through the next stages of development, in continued collaboration with the City of Ottawa and local stakeholders. Additional details about future phases of the site will be shared as planning progresses.

This project shows what’s possible when we work together with a clear focus on getting shovels in the ground and delivering homes for the people who need them. Today’s milestone showcases how we are putting City owned land to work, moving projects from planning into delivery, and bringing new affordable homes closer to reality for Ottawa residents.”

Mark Sutcliffe, Mayor of Ottawa

“Advancing Phase 1 at Heatherington is an important step for our community. This project will add muchneeded affordable homes in a familyoriented neighbourhood and reflects the City’s broader efforts to accelerate housing delivery while responding to local needs as the area continues to grow.”
