Ottawa, ON – Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) is pleased to announce that Beaudoin Canada has been awarded the construction contract for Shearwater Court, an affordable housing expansion in Ottawa’s south end. This development is an important step in OCH’s ongoing commitment to providing quality affordable housing while supporting the growth of established communities.
Shearwater Court is set to grow with the addition of a modern six-story building that will introduce 45 new one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes. This expansion will create more affordable housing options for individuals and families, contributing to Ottawa’s efforts to increase access to quality, energy-efficient homes.
Designed to meet Passive House standards, the new building will be all-electric, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy use through energy-efficient lighting, appliances, and solar power. With a high-performance envelope and efficient systems, the building will provide comfort, minimize environmental impact, and promote long-term sustainability.
Beyond housing, the development will stimulate the local economy by creating jobs during construction and contributing to the long-term growth of the neighborhood’s infrastructure.
