Volunteers from Clementine Towers and IGenOttawa got their hands dirty and made the outdoor space cleaner, greener and more beautiful on June 1.

An annual event since 2022, IGENOttawa volunteers (contributed their expertise and support to build a beautiful wooden bench at the rear patio area of 1455 Clementine Boulevard. They return yearly to plant beautiful annual flowers and contribute to our building’s rear patio.

IGENOttawa members Nicola and Christine were joined by members of the Clementine Organic Gardening team, Tenants led by Organic Gardening Tenant Volunteer Coordinator Grant Yusak; they planted beautiful annuals, some perennials, and hostas.

Snacks were provided in juice and cookies by IGENOttawa.

Volunteer gardeners and building tenants planted in the special planters and the recovery area together. Expert gardener Nicholas Jennawi, Yaciub Sarofim (former Agricultural Minister in Egypt) demonstrated the separation and replanting of two Hosta plants into nearly a dozen. Afterwards, the IGENOttawa team was given a tour of the Organic Garden Plots.

It was an informal event with many smiles. Three tenant volunteers, along with Organic Lead, Grant Yusak, have undertaken to reclaim a treed area at the rear of the building.
