OCH Partners Sponsor Learn to Snowshoe Events

Children from Overbrook and Carson’s Meadow
had some fun in the snow, thanks to a partnership between RecLINK, the Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Centre and the
OCH Community Development team.

The first event was at the park behind the
Carson’s Meadow community on Feb. 23. The second event was held at Ken Steele
Park on March 13.

At first, the group learned how to walk on
snowshoes, once they got comfortable, the children walked through the forest,
then ended the day with some games in the snow.

The two pop up events are part of
RecLINK’s  Return to Play Program. The
program aims to address the barriers low-income families face to accessing
recreation and sport. RecLINK staff work with community partners to support
young people and their families living in OCH communities to live healthier,
more physically active and enriched lives.
