Media are invited to attend the official launch of the first electric vehicle carshare site in an affordable housing community in Ontario.

The launch will take place at Mosaïq  – 811 Gladstone Ave. on Tuesday, September 13th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Tenants in five communities will have access to a fully electric Kia Niro, parked at 811 Gladstone. Car sharing offers many benefits to communities by providing a more affordable alternative to car ownership that is also better for the environment. Access to personal vehicles is often lacking in low to moderate-income households, and not every trip can be taken by foot, bike, or transit.  The lack of access to a personal vehicle can cause a barrier to accessing healthcare, buying affordable food or visiting family outside of Ottawa.

To celebrate this innovative partnership, Ottawa Community Housing CEO Stéphane Giguère and Board Chair Mathieu Fleury will be joined by Ottawa Climate Action Fund Executive Director Steve Winkelman,  Communauto project lead Wilson Wood, Trevor Freeman from Hydro Ottawa and EnviroCentre staff who jointly funded and supported the project.

Media will have the opportunity to test drive the vehicle following the speeches and photo opportunity. The vehicle is an electric Kia Niro.
