News Release: OCHC’s Caldwell Tenant Circle Wins 2021 Crime Prevention Ottawa Award

(OTTAWA, ON) November 8, 2021 – Ottawa Community Housing Corporation is proud to announce one of our engaged tenant groups – the Caldwell Tenant Circle – was named as a recipient of the 2021 Crime Prevention Ottawa Awards. This award was presented during the 13th annual ceremony on November 8. 2021.  

The Crime Prevention Awards celebrates people, groups and programs that work to build a better Ottawa through safety or crime prevention.  

Since 2017, the Caldwell Tenant Circle volunteers have actively worked towards creating a sense of safety and security through conducting audit walks, and hosting and volunteering at a variety of community events. Their dedication led to the following changes to the community: 

  • Implementation of traffic calming measures 
  • Improved lighting around the townhomes 
  • Removal of four phone booths – to deter criminal activity 
  • Upgrades to the neighbourhood basketball court 

Ottawa Community Housing very fortunate to work with engaged tenants such as the ‘Caldwell Tenant Circle’ and many other tenants who help build healthy, safe and inclusive communities.
